I remember the pride I had of the first fish I caught on a fly which I fashioned. It was an ugly feather fly that was tied with feathers stolen from a duster a friend owned on a hook held in a pair of vise grips. The Outer Banks Fly Casters wants you to have that experience and we are here to assist. What better to do on a cold winter night such as I expect for January 28 to attempt such an endeavor. Come to the Dare County Library in Kill Devil Hills at 6:30. It will be warm and we will have all the feathers, deer hair, hooks, thread, etc. so you can sit at a vise across the table from expert tyers and get hooked on a most satisfying craft. You do not need any materials or experience. In fact, if you have never tied a fly, you are exactly the person we want to meet.
The Outer Banks Fly Casters was form to encourage the sport of saltwater flyfishing through education.
Please come and I will assure you that your first fly will be much prettier than mine. Oh, there is one hitch. I would love to have a picture of you and the first fish you catch on a fly that you tied!
