January meeting of the Outer Banks Fly Casters
I remember the pride I had of the first fish I caught on a fly which I fashioned. It was an ugly feather fly that was tied with feathers stolen from a duster a friend owned on a hook held in a pair of vise grips. The Outer Banks Fly Casters wants you to have that experience and we are here to assist. What better to do on a cold winter night such as I expect for January 28 to attempt such an endeavor. Come to the Dare County Library in Kill Devil Hills at 6:30. It will be warm and we will have all the feathers, deer hair, hooks, thread, etc. so you can sit at a vise across the table from expert tyers and get hooked on a most satisfying craft. You do not need any materials or experience. In fact, if you have never tied a fly, you are exactly the person we want to meet. The Outer Banks Fly Casters was form to encourage the sport of saltwater flyfishing through education. Please come and I will assure you that your first fly will be much prettier than mine. Oh, there is one hitch. I would love to have a picture of you and the first fish you catch on a fly that you tied!

George, pass on to O.B.F.C. members my new E-mail. epalaszewski@cox.net. I had a good time teaching new members how to tie flies Thur. night. I hope the trend with new members continues which it will with all the club support. Thanks for letting me share with everyone. Russell will join next month, he was impressed with the club and its members. Again THANKS everyone Ed.

Great meeting and great folks as always. We need a club fishing day as soon as we get a break in the weather.

Just want to say how much my friend, Coonie, and I enjoyed the meeting. Your warm welcome and patient instruction in tying are much appreciated. We will definitely be back and, who knows, I might even take up fly fishing! Doug
