Re: July 6 and 7 report
sounds like its been terrible in the sound from you and many many others, and now bad even in the ocean - what do you think are the causes of the slump, and is it temporary, do you think? and not even any blues or spanish?
Re: July 6 and 7 report
Not getting much action down here this week in Ocracoke. Any reason the reds left?
Re: July 6 and 7 report
the trout got frozen last year --so we expected no trout
The red grew up--when they get over 30 inches as a rule they leave and go join the adult population.
bluefish and spanish are migratory here so they stop while passing north ---last bunch moved north
our water temps have been up and down and not much bait like thread fins and rain bait for the sharks to eat. Plenty of bunker around but no predators

Re: July 6 and 7 report
that all makes sense - but where are the sub-slot reds? shouldn't there be slot and smaller ones inside each year? and do we normally have gaps in our waves of migratory blues and spanish? i thought there were always some around all summer . . .
Re: July 6 and 7 report
it depends on good last years spawn was--the best spawns are years with hurricanes
