Colton Sale
Stumbled across this and thought some of you may be interested. 50% off all Colton rods and 30% all reels on their website Colton.com
Re: Colton Sale
I have a 7-weight and it is a nice rod. I would call it fast (not real fast and not medium fast). Not quite as "stiff" feeling at the TFO x rods. Joe, If you want to cast it some time let me know and I will bring it to a VCFA meeting. I fish a Rio outbound 7 intermediate on it for specks and dinky stripers.
Re: Colton Sale
KO,
Thanks for the offer. I'll keep that in mind. It's getting dark too early for that now (practice casting with it). Over all, how would you rate the rod as to quality, materials, etc. The sale prices looked pretty good on the web set. I may need a nice four piece rod for my trip to Coata Rica in Feb. The only 4 pc I have now is a 12 wgt.....

Re: Colton Sale
Joe, I broke a 7-wt. I saw the Coltons on sale (they are almost always on "sale" at Colton's eBay store) so i picked one up for about 135 bucks just to use until I decided which "real" rod to get to replace the 7....and to let kids use. I liked the Colton enough to just keep using it. It is a lot of rod for $135. But if you are going to get into the $250 range there are more choices. Predators and TFOs. And I only have experience with the 7 wt...other weights may be different.
Re: Colton Sale
Absolutely love my 7 weight Tradewinds by Colton. Used it this summer for tossing crab flies at reds and had a blast. It is definitely not as stiff as a TFO. Have heard some really good things about the Redington's too
