Focusing More On 5wts

Postby SOBX » Fri Nov 14, 2014 8:14 am

Cold and blowing this morning and Scarlet almost got rolled when a gust hit her as she squatted to grace the grass this morning.

I, along with several buddies, have grudgingly let go of the albie rope and have drifted over to trout (both specks and grays, or weakfish), and while we'll take any albie op that comes along, it is just gonna have to be almost a sure thing to leave this,

for these unless it is going off right damn good.

I guess Doc Eiler is the last serious convert,

but even he has had his 6/7wt rods in the boat lately, and both Jill Toler and Jan Will got in a great combo day for albies and "trouts" a week or so back (that's not a trout in Jilly's pic causing the pain)!

With less than 3 ounces of graphite and cork being bent by some trout with spots and some with none, the grins are still world class even if backing gets the tide off for a change.

Never discount them little sticks boys,

'cause when its done properly, this ain't a "one and done" fishery by any means. :D While I've always advised never clearing the inlets without a big stick, this time of year it is just as wise to not leave the dock without a small one. :)

Oh, almost forgot the puppy drum, that hang in the same zip codes as them "trouts", so be prepared for a whole other level of "pullage" on them4/5/6wts. ;)

Til the water gets hard, we're rolling 365 days of the year, from shorts and sandals to bibbs & boots, Harkers is a tough place to leave and a fine and dandy place to get back to! :D

Good Fishing!!!

Looking hard at Sat afternoon and Sunday. Weather Underground and Tides USA are getting plenty of hits this morning between sorting out flies and finding some fluro blues haven't munched on. :D

We need a trip in the skiff!
