Whenever Brian created this...lots of years ago, it has worked from then through now. It is the #1 trout getter with #2 being too distant to count.

It is the only fly I have used in the sound for lots of years. Oh yea...it also get huge needle fish as well

Do you choose the size based on the wt of rod not the target fish or bait fish? and you prefer bigger hook if you use heavier rod in the sound side?

I have 7wt and 9wt and plant to use 7wt for sound and 9wt for oceanfront.

All day long.
It is simple.....that is the only fly I tie on when fishing the sound...anytime of year, anytime of day...it works!
Easy to tie as well.
