Oregon Inlet fishing

Postby Codym » Wed Nov 05, 2014 1:23 pm

How is this fly fishing around Oregon Inlet this time of year? Wont be able to make it down to Harkers because of helping my dad with things around the house. Not looking for specific spots just and idea of whats going on. Thanks

maybe some puppy drum in the surf and a few speck--Check with TWs in Nags Head--they can tell where the waders are catching but know nothing of fly fishing

Glad you found 'em. I've also wondered about the fishing there this time of year. What seemed to work best as far as line and fly combos?

Thanks everyone it was a good time, I usually never do this well during Nov. I also was getting bites out on the beach in the KDH area too which I've never had luck with.

19kmo- I had a 10wt with intermediate line on it that I fished most of the time, I did 2 hand cast for an hour with a heavy sink tip but that didn't do as well as the 10wt int. As far as flies go I caught a couple on black/orange Clousers but for me the fly that produces the best for down there is the Avalon keel crab. I don't understand why it is but I've seen that fly out produce the black/orange Clouser every time. (Granted I don't fish NC nearly as much as most of you probably 10-15 days a year, just an observation I thought i'd share)

Emerson-I live in PA right now so I fish Nockamixon and the Delaware for them, sometimes Marsh creek
