Ribbet!!!
A "toad" that held on to long to avoid a quick pic with the Big Possum!
About a half inch over 24 and stout. Gotta love it when you set the hook with the 5wt, feel the head shakes and know that you ain't gonna have to measure anydamnthing with this one except time to the leader.
Good Fishing & Merry Christmas!!!

Re: Ribbet!!!
Bounced around a bit, but best available estimate was between 24.5/25 inches. Sent the pic to a good buddy over at NCDMF, Dr Louis Daniel and he estimated a weight of 5lbs, plus or minus a few ounces, based on length and an unknown but really large girth (from the pic). He brought me the release citation paperwork today at a meeting we attended. Anything over 24 inches get the release citation.
Think I'll have Mark Ray, an artist buddy, do a Big Eye fly or a flyrod, or something and frame it. Have caught fish in the 7lb range on fly, but back then you had to kill em and weigh em on certified scales. Didn't have the heart then or now, so they were released. I eat some now and again, but they're usually in the 2/2 1/2 pound range, and I like em from the ocean and salty.
