Got a late start on 3 hours to fish. The hole that produced the nice American Shad last week did not produce a strike. Spot 2 also empty. Spots 3 and 4 also blanks. Saw a boat up river (did not see them catch anything) but they were just enough below spot 5 for me to move to spot 5. That was the ticket. Had some nice Hickory action. The other boat caught some Americans and Hickories. The other boat had a fly fisher but he gave up on the fly and went to a spinning rod. Don't know who they were but they were friendly and cheered when I got a shad on fly????!!!! Lots of birds...eagles, wood ducks, kingfishers, herons, woodpeckers...and more.

I was wondering what hook that fly is tied on, never to early to start thinking of next year!
